GH Rick & Lesley ~10-20-83~ Lesley’s Gambling (Guilt) Part 8A

Lesley is acting like “Little Miss Homemaker” and the family is a little freaked out by it. She’s made a great breakfast & brown bag lunches. She tells Blackie that he can buy the drum set, and she offers to buy Amy a jumpsuit that she has her eye on. “She just wants her family to be happy!” Rick asks her point blank… “What’s goin’ on?” She tells him that she is feeling guilty and she swears that she is never going near the casino again. Rick stops by the clinic to see how she is doing. A young hospital worker stops in to give Lesley a report from the lab. Lesley is noticeably upset by seeing the girl. Rick asks what is wrong. She tells him that the girl has always reminded her of Laura. Rick points out that she’s been talking about Laura a great deal lately. Her sad feelings finally start coming to the surface, then she quickly shuts them down again when Slick comes in to have his shoulder looked at. Slick tells Lesley that he hasn’t seen her at the Casino tables lately. She tells him she’s not going to gamble anymore because she found out that she liked it too much. Slick tells her that it’s all about control. He bets “a little on the cards and a little on the ponies and walks away.” He shows her a horse racing form. She picks a horse “just for fun.” They turn on the radio to listen to the race…..
Also, IMO, CR played Rick pretty close to the book, and being the pro that she is DA knew how to? get more out of him, to make him real and make us care about him also, at least where Rick and Lesley were concerned. My 2 cents!
Hey Deb, I so agree with you, she did make him a better actor! Without her, his character became boring; as when they paired him with Ginny Blake. There was no chemistry, no sympathy and I didn’t care about their characters or storyline. However, imo DA made everyone a better actor. They really had to bring? their “A” game to measure up to the queen.

love the clinic chat, too sweet. how many times have we seen her wipe lipstick off his lips? what do you gals think…..I? am convinced that DA made CR a better actor–and I am being very serious,
“I am always in a good mood.” ~~”you?” ~~ “Yes, ME.” combined with the look on the face, OMG busting at the seams laughing. Rick should have sold tickets to this little? peformance

So I got kind of irritated at Slick here…until I remembered that Lesley would have had to found an outlet somehow. Somthing had to give…she had a problem. This? is another one of those 10 page things…
